Two Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Attack
An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to law enforcement.
A 24-year-old man, was taken into custody in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.
These detentions come after a probe into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the incident, a pair of female travelers had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a car park lift.
A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.
Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected theft and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.
Police were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals hurt by an irritating chemical thought to be pepper spray.
The attack - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not being treated as terrorism - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
