Citizens have come together around the country to remember 24 months since the Hamas-conducted offensive on 7 October 2023, as discussions continued in the neighboring country over a conclusion to the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

The incident saw in excess of 1,200 people dead and 251 others captured back to Gaza as captives. It was the single deadliest day for Jewish people since the Holocaust.

Israel responded by initiating a defensive operation in Gaza which has taken in excess of 67,000 people, according to the area's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its statistics are seen as reliable by the United Nations and other world agencies.

"Our aggressive adversaries have caused great damage, but they have not defeated us," the leader remarked on that day.

He also pledged to "realize all the goals of the war: the return of all the abducted, the destruction of the Hamas government and the guarantee that Gaza will not present a risk to Israel".

Commemorative Events Across Israel

The Israeli government rescheduled official memorials until October 16th - after the conclusion of the Jewish High Holiday season - but ceremonies still were held around the country on Tuesday.

A memorial ceremony for the loved ones of Israelis who lost their lives in the Hamas incident was held in Tel Aviv. Organized by the victims' relatives, it was televised across Israeli television channels.

Some time earlier, a moment of silence was observed across the country.

Negotiation Meetings in Egypt

Simultaneously, Israeli and Hamas negotiating teams convened in the North African coastal city of the negotiation venue for a follow-up session of indirect talks to examine the provisions of the agreement.

A senior Palestinian official familiar with the talks indicated that an night meeting of indirect talks began at 19:00 Cairo time.

The official said the day's discussions finished without tangible results, due to conflicting views over the suggested Israeli pullout plans from Gaza and over safeguards Hamas wants to guarantee Israel does not resume combat after the opening period of the arrangement.

He noted that the talks are "challenging and have not yet produce any significant progress," but mentioned that mediators are striving to reduce the disparities between the conflicting groups.

Essential Matters in Discussions

  • A permanent halt to fighting
  • The trade of the prisoners still held by Hamas for inmates from Gaza
  • The withdrawal of troops from Gaza
  • Plans for relief supplies distribution
  • Future administration of the area

Citizen Reaction

In Tel Aviv's Hostages Square earlier, 29-year-old Hagar - whose brother lived through the assault on the outdoor event, where hundreds were killed and dozens more were captured by Hamas fighters - shared: "No location seems like home any longer and until all the hostages are released not a single person will be secure."

"Once we see all home returned, we can feel relief once more. Then we can begin to heal," she added.

In front of the leader's residence in Jerusalem, people congregated to demonstrate their support for the relatives of the captives. Israel reports nearly fifty continue in detention in Gaza, approximately twenty of whom are believed to be living.

Activist one woman stated: "We need do every compromise necessary for the captives to come back home. But we sincerely need guarantees that we will be safe."

Research now regularly indicate that about 70% of Israelis want the war to conclude in as payment for the liberation of the hostages.

Gaza Situation

At the site of Nova festival, grieving people gathered to honor the dead.

From that location, the sound of military attacks and artillery could be heard just a few kilometres away in Gaza, where witnesses indicated the intense Israeli attacks continued.

In the main city, bombardments were noted in the early hours of Tuesday in the west side district, sector and locality districts and in the east side district of that sector, as well the settlement to the north-west.

"When the dusk comes, the anxiety arrives with it," evacuated Gaza City resident a mother, whose young son was died by an Israeli bombing last year, explained.

"Me and my three children are fearful of the attacks. During nighttime we are lying together, embracing, notably my smallest child who puts his face on me throughout the night."

"Every second we check the updates to see developments. And I'm worried that this halt will not be finalized and that the war will come back to us."

Health Emergency

Al-Shifa hospital in Gaza City reported it had taken in the corpses of several people by the midday, including several who lost their lives in an Israeli attack in the south part district.

Another medical facility in the south region of the city indicated another two dead people had been transported. A person was died by Israeli forces while attempting to get aid to the south region, medical staff said.

The territory's health ministry reported twenty-five of the {territ
