Fans Call for Custody of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Devoted fans of the pop star are calling for that a man who leaped a barricade and seized the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be arrested or removed from Singapore.
A viral video shows the Australian man pushing past camera operators and charging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a event pathway accompanied by onlookers.
Cast member Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the surprised star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram late on Thursday that he was "let go after being arrested", though court documents indicated that he was set to appear on the following morning. It is unknown if he was faced legal action.
Record of Incidents
This is part of a pattern for Mr Wen, who calls himself a "Controversial Figure", has crashed a celebrity gathering. His Instagram account includes recordings of him disturbing other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the pop singer's Sydney performance in recently and in a similar way during The Chainsmokers event in the area last year.
"There needs to be action applied against him as this is obviously a criminal offence," stated an Instagram commenter, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his act.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" another Instagram user questioned.
Fans Show Disapproval Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Many fans blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed suffering from trauma-related anxiety after a suicide bomb attack at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"Ariana has been through so many scary things... and at her Manchester concert and you thought it would be fun to jump the barricade?" wrote one more comment on Instagram.
Some supporters also criticised security officers at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while others requested digital services to remove Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In videos shared widely, Grande looked startled when she was approached by the individual. Her co-stars Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be seen reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by staff.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of attendees had assembled in a sea of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional launch in a Singapore mall, including some who had stood in line for as long as a significant duration before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be released on November 21, is the second of a two-film version of the acclaimed theatrical musical Wicked, which revolves around the unexpected friendship between two contrasting witches.
The production itself is a derivative of the classic children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a light pink sparkling outfit at the event while Erivo, who plays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble featuring roses.
They were joined by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of last year in the UK, and received a dozen award recognitions, earning two for best costume and production design.
